Drapers Field

A new park in Leyton next to the new East Village, formlery Athletes Village for London Olympics. The park helps bring together old and new communities, and 'Stitch the Fringe' of the Olympic site. An aspiration proposed by the London Legacy Development Corporation.

The bold design is a single corrugated plane which stretches across the site in front of the re-furbished community pavilion. Within the wavey surface are a variety of play opportunities including water pumps, channels and sprays and a climbable adventure play area. The site is adjacent to Chobham Academy and was designed to create a playful walk to school and includes a bike track along the diagonal path.

I was the project lead from inception to start of construction. The project was completed June 2014.

Drapers was 'Highly Commended' in the World Architecture News / Landscape awards in 2014.
