Harper Square
Harper Square is three distinct spaces - a woodland square, an urban square and a tilted lawn - which integrate the new housing development into the existing housing estate.
Through the use of planting and materials, the spaces connect and become places for relaxation, social interaction or play.
The design concept is to use one tree in a number of different ways from the planted birch square, to logs used for sitting and climbing, to the birch forest pattern etched into the urban square.
The proposed housing development is adjacent to an existing well-established housing estate and community, and I met with the residents several times to discuss the proposals.
I was project lead from inception to submission of the planning application when our appointment ended.
