London Circle Walk

Inspired by Richard Long’s, a friend Michael Brunström and I devised a walk around central London which follows a circle as accurately as possible. The walk is 20 miles long and uses whatever route is available from road, pavement, track to canal towpath. The aim is to walk as pure a circle as possible.

The centre of the circle is the original position of the Charing Cross at the top of Whitehall (where all distances into London are measured to) and crosses the river at Tower Bridge in the East, and Albert Bridge in the West. We always start and finish in the middle of Tower Bridge, and much prefer going clockwise.

Since planning and walking the route back in 2000 it has grown in popularity and in the last couple of years we have guided small groups after advertising in The Londonist and TimeOut London.

For more background information on the creation of the walk go to Michael's blog, and for details of previous and future guided walks go to our Facebook page.
