Southwark Park Primary School

This much loved Grade II listed Victorian school is to be extensively re-furbished with the addition of playful new pavilions housing a nursery and library, and a new landscape which knits the contrasting architecture into a whole.

The education stages are arranged to create a simple progression from the Nursery at the western end of the school through to the Junior school adjacent to Southwark Park Road.

The landscape is a single seamless resin-bound surface which folds up to form enclosed seating areas adjacent to the indoor classrooms, and includes a sunken ball-court, a timber amphitheatre and a planted wildlife screen which separates the nursery play area from the rest of the school.

I was the project lead from the early design stages, through the planning application and until the project was put on hold due to funding issues.
